I first heard of ITI through DearMilano, and thought the whole concept of the workshop was beyond amazing considering that nowadays, not everyone is willing to open up and give you tips about how they got to where they are. Nowadays, you will usually get an answer such as, “I don’t know. Figure it out” and have the door shut down right on your face.

I’ve always known I wanted to work professionally in something that was somehow linked to the passion I’ve always had - fashion and advertising, and knew it would take a lot of work in order to make a living out of it. I think it is important to remember that nothing happens by just waiting around and hoping. An effort has to be made.

Last semester I applied to fashion school in New York but life had a different plan for me, and I ended up staying in Mexico and taking two majors; Information Design and Marketing. I am very interested in the art that is fashion design, makeup, photography and marketing, and I admire them all equally because I love that once they are mixed together, they create something beautiful for the human eye. Because when it’s done right, it’s an art form that, like any other art form, is derivative and innovative at the same time. I love and appreciate things that are beautiful, and things that stretch and expand and make us question our ideas of beauty.

It would be the opportunity of a lifetime to attend the workshop and learn from professionals I look up to and genuinely admire for the passion and love they put into the content they create. You aren’t ever going to be handed the opportunity of a lifetime, you’ve got to create the opportunities for yourself because once you get there, it will feel a hundred more times as satisfying, and I hope I can learn a few things here and there through the workshop in order to build a path of success for myself.
